Version 1.1.2 can't open on iOS 27. Version 1.1.3 fixes it. Update Third Degree in the App Store: tap your profile picture, then Update next to Third Degree. If no update shows yet, it's still in Apple's review, so check back soon. Your streak, points and Pro come with you.
Check your connection, then tap Try again. The first load of the day can take a few seconds.
Desk → Begin Today's Case. There's one new case each day, and a case you've played can't be replayed that day. Want more? Play a Coffee Case.
Self-contained mysteries with no daily timer: Desk → Play Coffee Cases. Two are free, Bitter Grounds and The Night Shift, and 18 more come with Third Degree Pro. They run entirely on your device.
The week's hardest mystery, a four-suspect case, unlocks every Sunday in your local time. On other days the Desk shows a countdown to it.
Play the Daily Case each day to build your streak. You get one streak freeze the first time you play each week, and a freeze is used automatically to cover a day you miss. You can bank 2, or 4 with Pro.
You need a connection to open the Desk. Without one you'll see “You're offline” with How to Play and Settings, and the app goes back to the Desk by itself when you're online again. A case that's already open keeps working offline.
While interrogating, tap the microphone to dictate your question instead of typing it. It's optional. If you turned access off, switch on Microphone and Speech Recognition in iOS Settings → Third Degree.
Leaderboards show your codename and score. Friend codes are mutual: adding someone's code connects you both. Boards update when a case is finished.
An optional subscription. Today's Daily Case is always free. Pro adds:
The price, and any free trial, are shown on the paywall straight from the App Store, in your currency.
Settings → Third Degree Pro → Restore Purchases, signed in with the Apple ID that bought Pro. This works after reinstalling the app and after Delete My Data. If Pro doesn't show straight away, wait a moment and reopen the app.
Settings → Third Degree Pro → Manage Subscription, or iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Third Degree Pro. Turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. Billing and refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Settings → Detective Profile. Your Name stays on this device and is never sent to us. Your Codename is the name other detectives see on leaderboards; you build it from the word lists offered, so it's never free text.
Settings → Daily reminder, then pick a time. If iOS says notifications are off, turn them on in iOS Settings → Notifications → Third Degree. Reminders come from your device and never contain spoilers.
All three are in Settings.
Third Degree runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 15 or later. On iPad it supports multitasking and resizable windows.
Settings → Privacy → Delete My Data removes the server data linked to your device and gives the app a fresh identity. It can't be undone. Apple keeps your purchase history, so Restore Purchases still works afterwards. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
